Der Spendenaufruf: Das Original vom 02.03.2022

Liebe Freund*innen und Unterstützer*innen vom Theaterensemble Wheels,

Olha, Sascha, Maria, Andrey und Sniezhana haben sich entschlossen, zusammen mit ihren Kindern, die Ukraine zu verlassen. Seit dem 26.02.2022 sind sie auf der Flucht aus der ostukrainischen Stadt Kharkiv in Richtung Westen.

Sie sind unsere Freund*innen und Kolleg*innen mit den wir nun seit 9 Jahren, seit 2014, eng zusammenarbeiten. Sie sind wunderbare Schauspieler*innen und Dozent*innen der nationalen Universität der Künste in Kharkiv.

Wir möchten sie auf der Flucht und bei Ihrem Neuanfang so gut es geht unterstützen, damit Sie sicher ankommen und alles bekommen was Sie brauchen. So wie sie es auch für uns getan haben, bei all unseren Reisen und Aufenthalten in Kharkiv, bei denen wir immer mit überwältigender Gastfreundschaft und Liebe aufgenommen wurden.

Wir möchten auch diejenigen unterstützen die in der Ukraine bleiben müssen, Andrey und Sascha, die das Land nicht verlassen dürfen weil allen Männern im wehrfähigen Alter die ausreise Verboten ist.

Sie sind leider nicht die einzigen, Fedja mit Frau und Kind bleiben in Kharkiv, Oleg mit Kind und Familie in der Region Kharkiv,Maksym Panchenko und Maksym Avkzientiev sind im Westen und in Kiew,
Ludmilla, Olena, Wowa, Alexandr, Maria und so viele andere verstecken sich oder sind auf der Flucht.

Die Liste von Menschen die wir in den letzten 9 Jahren kennen und lieben gelernt haben ist sehr lang und wir versuchen zu allen wenn möglich Kontakt zu halten und sie zu unterstützen.

Außerdem unterstützen wir Studierende der Theaterakademie der Nationalen Universität der Künste in Kharkiv ihr Studium an Europäischen Hochschulen für Schauspiel fortzusetzen.

Einige werden wahrscheinlich bei uns in Berlin unterkommen, andere werden weiterhin ausharren und ausharren müssen.

Wir richten ein Spendenkonto über Wheels ein um unsere Leute direkt zu unterstützen. Wir möchten euch hiermit um eure Spenden bitten.

CALL FOR ACTION/TALK ABOUT IT/ SHARE INFORMATION

Men between 18 and 60 years are not allowed to leave Ukraine. They have to stay behind while friends, wifes, mothers and children have to go alone abroad to search safety. This is not right! Not everybody can and wants to fight. A man who dances isn't less brave than a man who is holding a machine gun. Dear respect to people who are fighting and dear respect to people who are not fighting. It is conservative and unjust system of values that puts people in danger of war, death and hunger. Injustice can't justify more injustice. We demand equal rights to search safety for men and women in Ukraine.

Liebe Freund*innen, Familie und Unterstützer*innen,

Vorab: Olha und Sascha Kryvosheiev haben ein Interview für die aktuelle Ausgabe von Theater der Zeit gegeben. Außerdem haben Maria, Lisa, Sascha, Andrey, Olha und Tino ein Interview für die Zeitschrift Exberliner gegeben. Beides ist grade rausgekommen, schaut gerne rein.

Hier ein Update über unsere Tätigkeiten der letzten Wochen für "Perspektive Ukraine":

  • Wir überweisen Soforthilfe an Menschen, die in der Ukraine ausharren müssen uns erreichen wöchentlich 1-2 Anfragen dazu und wir fragen auch regelmäßig in unserem Netzwerk nach.
  • Wir nutzen die Spendengelder weiterhin für Fahrtkosten, Unterkünfte, Kleidung, Hygieneprodukte und Medikamente, die wir zum Teil den Menschen zur Verfügung stellen, die bei uns untergekommen sind und zum anderen um Hilfe in die Ukraine zu liefern.
  • Wir übersetzen offizielle Dokumente, die Ukrainer*innen als zertifizierte Übersetzungen benötigen.
  • Wir richten Unterkünfte für unsere Freund*innen her, in denen sie langfristig unterkommen können.
  • Wir kümmern uns um alle Fragen von Registrierung über Sozialhilfe bis hin zur Kontoeröffnung für Freund*innen in Not.
  • Wir organisieren zusammen mit dem Haus der Jugend Zehlendorf einen ukrainischen Abend in der Argentinischen Allee 28 ab 14 Uhr in Berlin.
  • Wir versuchen soviele Künstler*innen wie möglich in Arbeitsverhältnisse in ihrem fachbereich in deutschland zu vermitteln.

Dear friends, family and supporters,

First of all: Olha and Sascha Kryvosheiev gave an interview for the current issue of Theater der Zeit. In addition, Maria, Lisa, Sascha, Andrey, Olha and Tino gave an interview for the magazine Exberliner. Both just came out, feel free to take a look.

Here is an update on our activities for "Perspektive Ukraine" over the last few weeks:

  • We transfer emergency aid to people who have to hold out in Ukraine, we receive 1-2 inquiries a week and we also regularly ask in our network.
  • We continue to use the donations for travel expenses, accommodation, clothing, hygiene products and medicines, some of which we make available to the people who are staying with us and some to deliver aid to Ukraine.
  • We translate official documents that Ukrainians need as certified translations.
  • We set up shelters for our friends to stay in long-term.
  • We take care of all questions from registration to social assistance to opening an account for friends in need.
  • Together with the Haus der Jugend Zehlendorf, we are organizing a Ukrainian evening at Argentinische Allee 28 in Berlin from 2 p.m.
  • We try to place as many artists as possible in employment in their field in Germany.

You made all this possible and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Dear friends, family and supporters,

We are recieving an amazing amount of help of people that are supporting with money, accomodation, driving people and pciking them up, bring needed things, create networks and safety nets for ukrainian artists and students, offer places at universities and jobs in theatres.

The list of supporters is large, and we will name everybody in given time in the detailed report. Right now there is so much to do that we delay the list of supporting people to a later point.

Thank you and great respect for everything you do!

Here is a summary of what we were able to achieve thanks to your donations since our last post (find a deatiled report on this page):

  • Over 20 Students of the National University of Arts in Kharkiv are on their way to acting Universities in Salzburg, Bern and Prague
  • We bought 11 bustickets for students from Khmelnitsky (Ukraine) to Bukarest.
  • We booked accomodation for all students that needed a place to sleep on their way out of Ukraine
  • We booked train tickets for 11 students from Bukarest to Vienna (where they will continue the journey to their new Universities)
  • We supported artists that can't leave the country with direct donations so they survive inside
  • Everybody who arrives still gets an amount of 100 € for their start in the new environment

What are the next steps?

Support everybody with permanent solutions for accomodation.

Help them to continue their jobs and studies as artists and art students.

Find a possinility to help artists that are not allowed to leave the country.

We keep you informed on every step.

Dear friends, family and supporters,

First of all: Your support is very important, it is needed and you made it possible for us to help our friends from Ukraine in the best way possible. Therefore you can be sure of our immense gratitude and respect!

You are showing with your support, that international friendship and solidarity is a fundamental part of our society and that we are ready to act and provide help when we are needed most. Therefore we love you!

Here a summary of what we were able to achieve up to this point with your support (find a more detailed report on this page):

  • We brought 6 of our friends, 2 children and 2 cats from the Romanian border to Berlin to safe private homes of friends and family.
  • Robert brought 3 adults and 2 children to Berlin from the Polish border.
  • From the donations we rented the cars, paid the gas, the accomodation and food.
  • Every person that is arriving gets a fixed amount of 100 € to spend for their own needs.
  • Further we support students from our projects with the National University of Arts Kharkiv to leave the country, we support with your donations and personal assistance.
  • 5 Students will arrive this week in Berlin.
  • We are also supporting the people in the country that can't or are not allowed to leave.

What are the next steps?

Registration, doctors appointments, getting a permanent own flat and supporting students to continue their studies.

AUFRUF ZU TATEN/SPRECHT DARÜBER/TEILT INFORMATIONEN

Männer zwischen 18 und 60 Jahren dürfen die Ukraine nicht verlassen. Sie müssen alleine im Land bleiben während ihre Freundinnen, Frauen, Mütter und Kinder alleine im Ausland nach Schutz suchen. Wir finden hier geschieht ein Unrecht! Nicht jeder kann und will kämpfen. Ein Mann der tanzt hat nicht weniger Mut als ein Mann der ein Maschinengewehr trägt. Großen Respekt an diejenigen die Kämpfen und auch großen Respekt and diejenigen die nicht kämpfen. Es ist ein konservatives und unrechtes Wertesystem das Menschen der Gefahr von Krieg, Tod und Hunger aussetzt. Unrecht kann nicht weiteres Unrecht rechtfertigen! Wir forden gleiche Rechte für Männer und Frauen in der Ukraine.

Liebe Freund*innen, Familie und Unterstützer*innen,

Zuallererst: Eure Unterstützung ist sehr wichtig, sie wird gebraucht und ermöglichte es uns unseren Freund*innen aus der Ukraine auf bestmögliche Weise zu helfen. Deshalb könnt ihr euch unserer unendlichen Dankbarkeit und unseres unendlichen Respekts sicher sein.

Ihr zeigt damit, dass internationale Freundschaft und Solidarität ein grundlegender Teil unserer Gesellschaft ist und dass wir bereit sind zu handeln und zur hilfe zu kommen wenn wir am meisten gebraucht werden. Dafür lieben wir euch!

Hier eine Zusammenfassung von dem, was wir erreichen konnten mit eurer Unterstützung (einen detaillierten Bericht findet ihr hier, allerdings nur auf Englisch, wir bitten um Verständnis, wir haben alle Hände voll zu tun):

  • Wir haben 6 Freund*innen, 2 Kinder und 2 Katzen von der rumänischen Grenze nach Berlin in sichere private Unterkünfte von Freund*innen und Familie gebracht.
  • Robert brachte 3 Freund*innen und 2 Kinder von der polnischen Grenze nach Deutschland.
  • Von den Spendengeldern bezahlten wir die Fahrzeugmiete, Treibstoff, Unterkünfte auf dem Weg und Verpflegung.
  • Jede ankommende Person erhält 100 € Spendengelder zur freien Verfügung und persönliche Bedürfnisse.
  • Außerdem unterstützen wir Student*innen aus unseren Projekten mit der Nationalen Universität der Künste Kharkiv die das Land verlassen wollen mit Spendengeldern, persönlicher Unterstützung und der Vermittlung von Privatunterkünften.
  • 5 Studierende werden diese Woche noch in Berlin ankommen.
  • Wir unterstützen unsere Freund*innen in der Ukraine, die das Land nicht verlassen können  oder dürfen.

Was sind unsere nächsten Schritte?

Registrierung, Arztbesuche, langfristige Wohnmöglichkeiten für unsere Freund*innen finden und Studierende dabei unterstützen an ihre Ausbildung in Deutschland anzuknüpfen.

Heute ist ukrainischer Unabhängigkeitstag, eigentlich immer ein schöner Tag,in diesem Jahr leider mit vielen ambivalenten Emotionen verbunden. Und trotz allem: Herzlichen Glückwunsch Ukraine!

Es gab eine lange Pause in der Berichterstattung und auch jetzt halte ich mich kurz, denn: Es gab und gibt immernoch unglaublich viel zu tun.

Viele freiwilligie Helfer*innen aus Prag, Berlin, Salzburg, Bern, Ludwigsburg, Hamburg und Potsdam kümmern sich um ukrainische Künstler*innen und Kunststudierende auf der Flucht. Wir würden gerne engeren Kontakt halten und uns mehr vernetzen, aber es sind einfach zu viele und wir sind glaube ich alle mit der Alltagsbeswältigung sehr gut ausgelastet.

Es ist schön zu hören, dass es überall Performances, Theaterstücke und Musik gibt, die von den Künstler*innen geschrieben und aufgeführt wird.

In Berlin werden wir am 02. und 03. September einiges davon im Theaterforum Kreuzberg zeigen, alles dazu findet ihr auf der Hauptseite.

Die Anzahl von Festivaleinladungen, Gastauftritten, Förderzusagen und Produktionen ist immernoch sehr hoch und wir hoffen, dass das Interesse auch weiter besteht. Eine vollstädnige Liste kann ich hier leider nicht anfertigen, es gibt und gab Gastauftritte am Theater Heidelberg, Gaspiele bei den Schlossfestspielen Heidelberg, dem Theater Natur Festival, beim Futur Festival in Hamburg, Performances von Studierenden in Potsdam und an der HfS Ernst Busch, weitere Gastauftritte in Hamburg um nur ein paar zu nennen.

Wir sind sehr gespannt wie es weitergeht und wollen den Herbst nutzen um uns zu sammeln und weiter Perspektiven zu entwickeln.

Today it is ukrainian independance day. In general a joyful day, this year of course connected to ambivalent feelings. Still: Congratulations Ukraine!

There was a long break in reporting and also now I'll keep it short because: There was and still is an incredible amount to do.

Many volunteers from Prague, Berlin, Salzburg, Bern, Ludwigsburg, Hamburg and Potsdam look after Ukrainian artists and art students on the run. We would like to stay in closer contact and network more, but there are just too many of them and I think we are all very busy coping with everyday challenges.

It's nice to hear that there are performances, plays and music written and performed by the artists everywhere.

In Berlin we will be showing some of it at the Theaterforum Kreuzberg on September 2nd and 3rd, you can find everything about it on the main page.

The number of festival invitations, guest appearances, funding commitments and productions is still very high and we hope that interest will continue. Unfortunately, I cannot make a complete list here, there are and have been guest appearances at the Theater Heidelberg, invited plays at the Schlossfestspiele Heidelberg, the Theater Natur Festival, at the Futur Festival in Hamburg, performances by students in Potsdam and at the HfS Ernst Busch, other guest appearances in Hamburg to name just a few.

We are very excited to see how things will continue and want to use the autumn to collect ourselves and develop further perspectives.

Es ist einfach unglaublich viel passiert!

Das ganze wheels Team, Lisa, lea, Jonas, Florian, Tino und viele Leute im Netzwerk geben nach wie vor alles was drin ist um sich für unsere Freund*innen einzusetzen.

Maria, Olha und ihre Familien kamen Anfang März in Berlin an und dann haben ihre Kinder erstmal Covid bekommen, genauso wie Tinos Vater Dieter, bei dem Sie untergekommen sind. Tino, Jonas und Niko, haben auch Covid bekommen, Lea und Lisa wurden glücklicherweise verschont.

Tino und Dieter organisierten Unterkünfte für die Studierenden bei Tinos Onkel und Tante und bei Freund*innen aus der Nähe.

Dann kam die Sache mit den Studierenden erst so richtig ins Rollen:

Über Annalena Haering und Sophie Melbinger kamen wir in Kontakt zu den Schauspielhochschulen in Bern und Salzburg, mit Wolfgang Heberle, Florian reichert und Kai Ohrem. Yana Partola, die Dekanin der Theaterakademie in Kharkiv organisierte Studienplätze an der Hochschule in Prag, Iris Böhm, Markus Herrmann und Sven Dolinski organisierten mit Olha, Maria und Tino Studienplätze an der Ernst Busch Hochschule in Berlin, Sophia Rötschke stellte den Kontakt zur Hochschule in Babelsberg her und Philine Pastenaci und Antje Siebers den Kontakt zur Adk Ludwigsburg.

Nun sind 28 Studierende bereits sicher mit wunderbarer Unterstützung der Studierenden und Dozierenden vor Ort angekommen, weitere 10 sind auf dem Weg und werden von wheels und den Hochschulen bei der Ausreise aus der Ukraine unterstützt.

Insgesamt haben 38 Gaststudierende einen Platz gefunden und die Zahl steigt wöchentlich, manchmal sprunghaft.

Währenddessen hat Jonas mit Unterstützung von Willy, Jill und Winnetou Kampmann eine langfristige Wohnmöglichkeit für unsere Freund*innen in Steglitz aufgetan. Das war ein unglaublich wichtiger Schritt, denn ohne festen Wohnsitz in Berlin hätte eine Verteilung auf andere Bundesländer gedroht. Jetzt wird grade tatkräftig renoviert um unseren Freund*innen eine schöne Umgebung in dieser schwierigen Zeit zu schaffen.

Wie geht es jetzt weiter?

Wir haben Unterstützung vom Theater an der Parkaue zugesagt bekommen, dort können Olha und Maria mit Lisa, Tino, Lea und Jonas proben und aufführen. Danke hier an den Kontakt von Ioana Nitulescu. Die erste Berlinaufführung wird wahrscheinlich im Mai stattfinden.

Vlada Sviatash wurde am Theater Heidelberg in einem Projekt angestellt und Volodomyr und Alyona Snegurchenko werden ihr Stück"Northern Lights", das wheels 2016 als Gastspiel nach Berlin einlud, am Theater Kassel in der nächsten Spielzeit umsetzen können.

Simon Russig, ein Kontakt der uns über Sophie Melbinger erreichte, Arbeitet in dem Projekt "Monologues for Peace" zusammen mit Fedja, Yulia, Maksym, Maria, Olha, Sascha, Sniezhana und Andrey. So unterstützt er Ukrainier*innen auf der Flucht un in der Ukraine mit einem bezahlten Videoprojekt. Wir halten euch über veröffentlichungen auf dem Laufenden.

Olha und Maria haben begonnen an der HfS "Ernst Busch" als Dozentinnen zu arbeiten und werden in diesem Jahr auch mit ihrem Stück touren, wir halten euch auf dem Laufenden.

Es gibt noch ein paar Aktionen, die wir nicht öffentlich machen können aus Sicherheitsgründen unseren Freunden gegenüber. Vielleicht können wir euch irgendwann in der Zukunft offen darüber berichten, falls ihr mehr wissen wollt, schreibt an info@wheels-berlin.de

An incredible amount has happened!

The whole wheels team, Lisa, lea, Jonas, Florian, Tino and many people in the network are still doing everything they can to support our friends.

Maria, Olha and their families arrived in Berlin at the beginning of March and then their children first got Covid, as did Tino's father Dieter, with whom they stayed. Tino, Jonas and Niko also got Covid, fortunately Lea and Lisa were spared.

Tino and Dieter organized accommodation for the students with Tino's uncle and aunt and with friends nearby.

Then things really got going with the students:

Through Annalena Haering and Sophie Melbinger, we came into contact with drama schools in Bern and Salzburg, with Wolfgang Heberle, Florian Reichert and Kai Ohrem. Yana Partola, the dean of the theater academy in Kharkiv, organized study places at the university in Prague, Iris Böhm, Markus Herrmann and Sven Dolinski organized study places at the Ernst Busch University in Berlin with Olha, Maria and Tino, Sophia Rötschke made contact with the university in Babelsberg her and Philine Pastenaci and Antje Siebers established contact with Adk Ludwigsburg.

Now 28 students have already arrived safely with the wonderful support of the students and lecturers on site, another 10 are on their way and are being supported by wheels and the universities when leaving the Ukraine.

A total of 38 guest students have found a place and the number is increasing every week, sometimes by leaps and bounds.

Meanwhile, with the support of Willy, Jill and Winnetou Kampmann, Jonas has found long-term housing for our friends in Steglitz. That was an incredibly important step, because without a permanent residence in Berlin there would have been a risk of distribution to other federal states. Now we are actively renovating to create a nice environment for our friends during this difficult time.

What's next?

We have received support from the Theater an der Parkaue, where Olha and Maria can rehearse and perform with Lisa, Tino, Lea and Jonas. Thanks here to the contact of Ioana Nitulescu. The first Berlin performance will probably take place in May.

Vlada Sviatash was employed in a project at the Theater Heidelberg and Volodomyr and Alyona Snegurchenko will be able to realize their play "Northern Lights", which wheels invited to Berlin as a guest performance in 2016, at the Theater Kassel in the next season.

Simon Russig, a contact who reached us through Sophie Melbinger, works in the project "Monologues for Peace" together with Fedja, Yulia, Maksym, Maria, Olha, Sascha, Sniezhana and Andrey. He supports Ukrainians fleeing in Ukraine with a paid video project. We keep you up to date on releases.

Olha and Maria have started to work as lecturers at the HfS "Ernst Busch" and will also be touring with their play this year, we will keep you up to date.

When Olha, her 5 months old daughter, her mother Marina and the mother of her husband Tetjana decided to put together all their courage and make it to the Ukrainian border, we were ready to come and pick them up. We had to move fast: The info came at 19.00 on the 02.03.2022, the Romanian border doesn't have the best infra structure and places to sleep are rare and not easy to reach if you don't have a car. 

So Tino and Lea made an emergency call to Avis in Zittau at 19.15 on wednesday, where Tino was at the moment and were lucky to get a VW Touran with 7 Seats. Tino picked up Lea in Dresden at 22.00 and they started off to Siret at the romanian border. They took the route over Prague, Bratislava, Budapest and then to north romania entering at Satu Mare.

They arrived to pick Olha up the next day at 19.30, after 21 hours of driving, only stopping at gas stations. Olha and her family on her part was already 7 days on the run. She and her husband Sascha fled the city of Kharkiv in the early morning hours of 24th of February to Khirowograd in the center of Ukraine where her husbands parents lived. She had to part from her husband because he is not allowed to leave the country, it is not describable how painful this decision is for our friends.

Olha went on to Khmelnitsky. There are two buses starting every day from Khmelnitsky to Istanbul organized by Kotsal, the husband of our good friend and actress Sniezhana. If you know people who want to leave the country that way, connect them to us, write to info@wheels-berlin.de, we will connect them with the bus drivers.

Olha got on the bus and we picked her up behind the border. We brought her and her family to Campulung Moldovesc to a Hostel, where we all could sleep in peace.

Robert was going to the polish border to bring needed goods and pick up friends to bring to Berlin as well. Maria K. and her family arrived there safely on Saturday, 05.03.2022.

In the meantime Maria V. and Andrej tried to stay with family and friends as long as possible and decided to leave Kharkiv as the city got incircled by russian troops and the bombing got unbareable.

They left with their 2 year old son Aleksandr and Andrejs sister.

Maria had to part from her husband Andrej for the same reasons as Olha and made the same way with a bus of Kotsals's people from Khmelnitsky to romania.

On friday 04.03.2022 Florian, Felix and Danny started in Berlin for the same way as Tino and Lea, and drove non stop to meet Maria on time in romania as well. 

Olhas sister in law already made it to Bucharest, we booked a train to Vienna for her, from there she could travel for free with the DB to Berlin.

They picked her up on 05.03.2022 at 20.30.

The two cars drove back for two days to Berlin and now everybody is staying at the house of Tinos father Dieter and Tinos aunt and uncle Jenny and Hans. They live close together so they can see each other any time.

From the donations we rented the cars, paid the gas, the accomodation and food.

Every person that is arriving gets a fixed amount of 100 € to spend for their own needs until they get financially supported by the state. Depending on how long that takes and how much we collect, we will hand more personal money.

We believe that this is necessary to provide a feeling of independence and self-determination for people abroad.

Further we support students of the national University of Kharkiv (in names Katya, her sister, Alina, Maria S. and Maria K.) to leave the country, we support with your donations and personal assistance.

We are also supporting the people in the country that can't or are not allowed to leave.

What are the next steps?

Registration, bringing more people to Berlin and other places in Germany and organizing a permanent flat for our friends so they can live more independently and self-determined. Helping with doctors appointments and all needs of daily life. Thinking about how we can get our loved friends, husbands and boyfriend out of the war zone.

Some Universities reached out to us, to be connected with the National University of Arts in Kharkiv. We are trying to connect the Dean of the theater department and the teachers Maria and Olha to them and moderate the process of Ukrainian students participating in courses in universities in Bern, Hamburg, Potsdam and Berlin.
